@tomo:
I'm going yo give you a very detailed reply since you're inquiring because you want to actually want to implement the technique. However, I'm tied up at the moment so it'll be a little later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Wow...just got blasted by Kenneth on KFD...a real condescending set of posts. I really don't think it was warranted.
Anyway...when I go and address the 2 half-truths, 1 mis-leading comment, & 1 out-right lie...my post disappears 10 minutes later.
Is that another WetPaint issue? If so, it is one heck of a coincidence...
...
LOL...**UPDATE***...make that BOTH of those posts just mysteriously disappeared.
I really thought Kenneth was better than that. I see why you guys created this forum.

Hi Brian. I deleted both your posts. No mystery whatsoever. I posted this on the same thread:
Brian Ananda responded with two posts on this thread a moment ago. I took his comments to be discourteous and argumentative and deleted both posts.
This website is my classroom. This is where I teach people what I can about enlightenment. That's all. Arguing just isn't interesting to me anymore.
I have learned that it is better to take a firm hand in the beginning and risk offending someone than to let a thread turn into a flame war. No apologies. There it is.

Yeah...Kenneth. It was "nice" of you to at least give me that courtesy...
Ummm....transferring the argument to a forum that was created to escape your flames/retorts/etc. (and not by me, mind you, but by your inner circle) ... that probably isn't "nice".
I'm going to leave it at that. Flame me, condescend me, belittle me & everyone that thinks you're great for getting people to meditate, but your head has swelled a bit...and you've forgotten that a lot of other are getting enlightened by other techniques in other Mahasi (& Mahasi derivatives) systems...
Pardon me for thinking you cared more about people getting enlightened than getting enlightened through your system?
So who is spreading the "mushroom culture" now?
(Sorry, even in my resentment for what you've become, I can't resist using this line.)
I think I'll continue to get enlightened by those "charlatans" that don't brag about their attainments and teach people regardless of whether or not they follow beliefs behind the system, No mystery there. None whatsoever.

@Chris/Jackson (& everyone else, really)
I apologize for being so blunt in the previous post. I'm sure I don't have to tell you guys this, but I wasn't argumentative or "flaming" Kenneth in those posts he deleted. In fact, I was very restrained. I merely told him how disappointed I was & corrected him on the misleading & condescending/belittling remarks he made. They were removed because he needs those last few posts to be the end of the conversation.
I even left out quite a bit of information that would've have been very embarrassing for him...particularly on his site. If ever I had I right to use it, there & then would've been it. The difference being, I'm not going to react to those feelings that arose.
I say all this, to say this: Do you really think it is a good idea to have him as a member here? I think the post he made above states my case.
I realize that he's being really sweet to you guys...for the moment. Keep in mind he won't be that way with all of the "refugees".

Brian, no need to apologize. You're right. Allowing him to participate here could prove to be a mistake. I realize this, as does Chris. I appreciate your feedback. There's no state rule that says Chris or I can't revoke Kenneth's membership. If he doesn't provide some meaningful dialog soon, he's out. Period.

On second thought, forget it. I just revoked his membership. I can't handle this shit anymore. He can respond to my questions at his site or not at all.
I'm over it.
I apologize for ever allowing him to join the first place.

I agree, Michael. I even asked Kenneth to re-read the posts on his site. I told him (in the deleted reply) that I tried my best to emphasize "this is what is good for me, not for everyone"...the alternative was to ignore the question directly asked of me.
After what has transpired, I see that I should have just ignored the post...but it is always easy to look back at what we "should've" done.
I really wish you guys could've seen my replies...they were not inflammatory at all.
Anyway...let's forget this & continue with what we we doing.
I'm trying to layout my thoughts in an organized fashion so that I can make a good post on approaching enlightenment/dhamma from the "feelings & religion" perspective. You said something about you'd like to hear more on the psychology/western dhamma vs. dhamma with feelings etc. & the resounded within me. I don't think it is too often that we hear about making meditative progress from a religious point of view.

Anyway, I read the Brian posts and Kenneth's responses (Brian's responses to which Kenneth deleted as we know) and I see both points in a way. KFD is Kenneth's site as a "teacher" as the person with the authority and for him, it isn't a site for other people (like Brian or Chris or Jackson or me) to come along and try to have equal say on vipassana techniques.

Listen up, folks.
I just removed several posts here because they just can't be left to stand. They were personal and even though we may not like someone we can't publicly speculate about their income, how they make it, whether they are any good at it, and so on. If any of the people who made those copmments what to complain you can complain to me.
Money does not belong in the equation.
The discussions about Kenneth need to stop.
Just stop.
Any further discussions about personal issues like this will be removed.
ANY discussion that gets overly personal needs to stop. This is a place meant to be about practice. Let's make it so. I donated money to Kenneth for a long time and I fully believe it was money well spent. Speculation, and that's all it is, about who paid what, who earns what and why and how all that takes place can't be done here. It'll kill this place and it makes us all look small. Whatever we do from now on has to be above board, okay?
So let's talk practice.
Thanks,
- Chris

Chris,
I'm not too proud to say that I was completely out of line when I made such a hasty request for someone to elaborate on that. Sheer curiosity came over me & I clicked "submit reply" before I really thought it through.
A think a thorough self-examination--a "taking stock in oneself", if you will--would be prudent on my part. For all the talk on "not reacting" I certainly fell victim to just that. In the immortal words of the Joker:
Curiosity killed the bat.

I thought we could all use a little humor after all of drama that has transpired here over the last day or so. Since this is a vipassana thread, I thought this cartoon was appropriate...

From an unlikely byway I found myself meandering this week:
"The epigram bids us to 'look well,' and in those two apparently insignificant words lies one of the prime secrets of alchemy: Give attention to what you are doing. Attention acts as the magical 'third force' operating to connect the material experiment and the psyche of the experimenter. It is this that helps us to achieve real transformation, and we will come back to this third ingredient again and again...
... Practicing alchemy in everyday life is the opposite of living mechanically. It is about committing yourself to growth, and working consciously." [From Everyday Alchemy, by Cherry Gilchrist]
