Technical question about Twitter

Dear fellow technogeek Buddhists,

I keep getting retweets like this:

Is this spam? What on earth is this about? And if it is spam, what could anyone hope to achieve by doing it?

Was this (or at least the original tweet) posted on a Friday? If so, it probably is part of the Follow Friday thing on twitter. It started out as a way to recommend who to follow on twitter but (IMHO) quickly became just another link exchange for people who are too intent on becoming Internet Famous

You'll see similar posts with the hashtag #followfriday or #ff for short.

OK. Thanks, Eran, now I understand. I have seen that #ff hashtag in similar tweets and yes it was posted on a Friday. (Smacks forehead with palm.) It all comes together now...
