First time noting... was created by GiulioB.
Hello, can i ask a few questions about noting...the first gear specifically: There are four steps but are they to be taken all together or first you do the first, then when you get good the second and so on....
Another thing i noticed is that in normal life there are so many movements and intentions, feelings etc. that is impossible to sense them all, i can't even imagine of making a note of them. One should move extremely slowly or not move at all.
Thanks!

Hi Giulio,
The 4 foundations can be done in isolation or in any order or combination. It's good to learn them by taking one at a time at first, just to get clear on what the notes are for each foundation. In the end, the mainstay of the technique is to note all four foundations in random order, as they arise into consciousness. But no matter how advanced you get, it is good to drill the foundations in isolation from time to time to make sure you are expert with each one.
The intention is to make the mind and body transparent in real time. When everything that arises in the mind and body is seen clearly, including the sense of "I", there is no place to stand and no enduring "I" to be found. This leads to a kind of moment by moment free fall, which is nothing other than enlightenment.
Welcome to KFD,
Kenneth

Thank you! I've tried to note constantly outside of formal sitting but it's extremely hard. I had a natural stop after a hour or two. Thank you very much for the answers.
