Where Are the Long Time Members? was created by AugustLeo1
Since my return to the KFDh forum, I've noticed that many/most of the long time members of KFDH - those that joined prior to ~1 year ago - no longer participate here - why is that?

There was a lot of pushback against the introduction of direct mode teachings... many members left...

You would probably get clearer answers if you approached them directly

Hi AugustLeo,
good to see an appearance from you.
I'm still around, mainly lurking. I just don't have much to add to the discussions, so I don't.
Cheers,
Florian

Quoting ClaytonL: "There was a lot of pushback against the introduction of direct mode teachings... many members left..."
Clayton, thanks for your response. Perhaps those members will decide to post in this thread and let everyone know why they no longer participate.
I'd like Kenneth to take the time to carefully integrate and then expound upon this new aspect of his Understanding within the greater body of his existing teaching. I hope to talk with Kenneth in the next week to get a better understanding.

I'm not an oldbie here, though I am someone who's posted way less recently. It's because I haven't practiced seriously in several months. There just hasn't been sufficient mental energy to sustain forward momentum in vipassana practice AND pass 19 hours of tough senior-level premedical classes while having adhd AND overcome a depressive episode. That situation was a definite "pick 2 out of 3."
Since this site is all about actual meditation practice rather than merely parroting nice-sounding "buddhist stuff," I won't have much to contribute until I get back to daily practice.
I wonder if some people hit Reobservation and rolled up the mat, and that's why they haven't been around lately?

Not that I'm an oldbie either, but I've tried to comment less frequently as well. For a couple of months, I was using this site the way you might use Facebook--kind of as a distraction/source of entertainment, and commenting on stuff I didn't really understand, etc.

I'm still around; like Monkey Mind, I don't feel I have much to contribute right now as not much has changed with my practice so I mainly lurk.
I do enjoy and learn from the discussions here - all very useful and informative. I just seem to be sort of stuck at a certain point in this journey and my reports were becoming repetitive and boring to me. I just feel it's best for me to push on alone for awhile - hopefully something new will develop and I'll have something interesting to report!
