Suggestions needed for a good personal retreat center. was created by AnthonyYeshe
Hello friends,
I am about to be on vacation before school starts up again and I am looking for a good place to do a personal retreat.
What I am looking for:
Somewhere around Aug 2nd to Aug 18th
In USA (trying to keep the plane ticket cost down)
Will allow me to follow my own practice (dont need Mr. Goenka talking to me on audio tapes all day)
And hopefully a place that will allow me to pay at the end. I only have about $800 to start with for tickets, application fees, and maybe a deposit.
I will recieve a nice student loan on Aug 17th so I will be able to pay up when I leave.
So what are your favorite places? Any recommendations? Whats the name of that one place that Kenneth went to in New Mexico when he got the big E?
New Mexico would be a good place since I could just take a bus from here (dallas, tx)
Thanks.
p.s. I have been looking at several sites that list buddhist retreat centers like the World Buddhist Directory. There are just so many and I was hoping for some recommendations anyways. Also, I am currently waiting for an email for the IMS forest refuge center about availability. (EDIT: they are full-no go)

Very interesting. I am going to give them a call.
I am starting to think that a retreat center with camping may be a cheap way to go. Hopefully somewhere that serves meals.
back to my search.
Anyone know any good places for some buddhist camping?
