Is there a way to link to previoud kfd forum so that I might have some continuity with practice thread?

The one goes back too far and the other not far enough. If you try to navigate to the fifth page it's just a setlist from a bob dylan concert. No big deal. Thank you.

We didn't move to this platform out of choice. Wetpaint shut the old site down. Those archives are the best we have for now. No way to currently link from the old content.

May I suggest to folks that they need to take control of their own online journals? It sounds harsh but the reality of having forums hosted on free sites like Wetpaint is that the owners can do whatever they want with the content - your journal. Even sites that are not free, or where time, effort and hardware/software are being donated to causes like this new KFD, are prone to failure. All computer systems can and eventually do break, lose content, and so on, so...

Back up your own words!

Every week, or every month, take a few minutes and copy your journal to a local hard drive or some other backup facility. Had we all been doing that the death of the original KFD would not have been as painful.

My last comment seems way too preachy now that I read it again. Sorry about that.

Maybe someone could host an uncompressed version of the zipped backup(s). For me, the latter of those worked best for retrieving most of my posts:

Have there been any efforts to contact WetPaint and ask for access to download the site?

Yes, I have called WetPaint and I was able to get them to talk to me. However, they will not recover anything they have removed. Their policy is ironclad, they say, and they have no interest or desire to help the forums they blew away. So... there will be no help, no recovery of the content from WetPaint.
