Just ... watch.
Don't do anything else. By this I don't mean don't take actions or don't think. Take actions and think and just watch yourself taking actions and thinking. Feel stuff, and just watch yourself feeling stuff. React to feeling stuff and just watch yourself reacting to feeling stuff. But don't do anything from the place of the watcher, the observer. The watcher keeps a steady vigil while stuff happens, all kinds of stuff, infinite stuff.
Do this with continuity and momentum and insights will occur, I can almost guarantee it. Insight isn't in what you are seeing, only in how you are seeing. (this is my big learning lately, could be wrong though, right?)
Allow everything to happen, let it all in, let it all out, and keep track of every detail as it occurs. Doesn't matter what it is, as long as it doesn't escape notice.
edit: oh, and this isn't about just seated meditation, this advice about looking, watching is for all moments.

This could be correct, I'm starting to realize. Insight, freedom, awakening -- these are all located in the process or mechanism of looking. The kind of looking that is continuous, detailed and completely open. It makes no difference what one is looking at, as long as it is the experience going on right ... now ... and ... now ...
There is no need to seek or look for anything in particular. The looking itself is enough.
Makes practice much simpler.
